We didn’t have an architect this time around, so the Yakka team and I worked together on the design. Without their design eye for things like floating ceilings, we wouldn’t have this beautiful place we have now. The Yakka boys led the communications with our other contractors and suppliers, and as well as being phenomenal builders they’re also excellent project managers.

We went through all aspects of the project in close detail, and for the high quality and detail of work that was required, it was a massive achievement to have this done in three months. There were no delays, everything was on time and it was a brilliantly managed project. In fact there was very little that needed to be finished once we moved in, which I understand is quite a rarity.

I’ve had extensive experience with tradesmen and builders over many decades, but I’ve never met builders like Yakka Build. The guys were willing to go into the finest detail with me, and I believe the level of excellence we aspired to aligned perfectly with what Yakka delivered. Yakka had access to an amazing range of high-quality products and contractors – the cabinetry, glasswork and our glass splashback are examples of this. They are all spectacular, and we frequently get comments from visitors saying they’ve never seen such fine finishing. We’ve even had friends with more expensive houses say they’d wished they’d known the people who made our doors for example, as they’re so beautiful.

Having high expectations and attention to detail, it’s quite a big deal to get a result I’m satisfied with. The whole experience felt so tailored, and I think Yakka treats everyone with the same courtesy and respect.

The biggest surprise was that you can have this vision, this dream – and it can actually come true. In fact, ours is better than we imagined, we couldn’t be happier. I’m so pleased that we were recommended Yakka Build, there’s nothing I’d change about the experience.”
